  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of new cancers in women, accounting for 31% of all cancers in women.
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of deaths related to cancer.
  • Global breast cancer rates are increasing at a rate of 2% per year.

As you can see, family history carries a heavy weight. This was the basis for Angelina Jolie’s decision.

You can also see that having children is somewhat protective, whereas obesity and alcohol consumption increase your risk for breast cancer.

So, do these statistics mean that you’re stuck with the risks you were born with, with things as they are?
